GNM or General Nursing and midwifery is a 3.5 years duration course which is commonly also known as GNM Nursing. It is a diploma level course, suitable for those who want to pursue a career in clinical nursing.

The 3.5 years of GNM are divided into 3 years of education and 6 months of mandatory internship. Students get to do internships in Nursing Homes, Hospitals and even Private Medical Firms and companies. This is suitable for those who are intersted in assisting sick people and help doctors in various hospitals.

GNM admissions are done through entrance exams, almost all of which are state level. Most of the states in India have their departments which conduct entrance exams for GNM Nursing courses. The details of these exams are given later in the article.

FMPHW stands for Female Multipurpose Health Worker. This is the first and foremost step in nursing profession. Nursing just does not mean serving and individual patient, it has much role to play, for e.g: Health training, teaching supervision and administration of hospital and promotion of health programmes in community. The most important quality one needs to possess, in order to go in for a Carrerin Nursing, is the ability to establish a rapport with patients and respect them. One should be able to understand situations and tackle them effectively.

MMPHW stands for Male Multipurpose Health Worker. MMPHW will mainly focus on activities which are related to disease control programs, detection and control of epidemic outbreaks, environmental sanitation, safe drinking water, first aid in emergencies like accidents, injuries, burns etc., treatment of common/ minor illnesses, communication and counselling, life style diseases and logistics and supply management at sub-centre. In addition he will also facilitate ANM in MCH, Family Welfare, and Nutrition related activities .

Health worker male is a worker posted at sub enter he plays a significant role in relation to malaria, TB, Leprosy. School health including nutrition and recording of vital events as well as record keeping are his major responsibilities.

Diploma in Anaesthesia is a 2 year diploma level program in Anaesthesia, the eligibility for which is passing 10+2 (PC) examination with an aggregate of 50% marks and above from a recognized board. This course provides a strong foundation for aspirants who wish to pursue their higher education in the field of medicine and specialize as anaesthetics.

Applicants are not required to clear an entrance examination for the program and the admissions are done solely on the basis of merit list percentage score in the 12th grade examination. As the field of medicine has grown into a crucial field and due to the importance of anaesthetics in medical fields, this course opens a wide arena of opportunities for candidates post its completion.

Candidates are supposed to possess a certain level of competence and skill in order to deem suitable for the course. They are required to understand the severity of live-threating conditions and analyze the requirment, in addition, they should be able to consider the amount of dosage needed. Candidates possessing knack for detail, who are self-aware of their limitations are known to be apt for the course. In addition, the aspirants are supposed to have good interpersonal skills, should have the traits of punctuality and reliability in order to benefit from the program.

General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) in the lateral entry is a two-year full-time diploma program.
Eligibility Criteria

10+2 with English and must have received at least 40% in each of the qualifying exam and English separately for any board that is recognised. Additionally, candidates may apply to National Institute of Open Schools (NIOS), which is recognised by the Central Government, and State Open Schools, which are recognised by the State Government. But science is the better option.40% of the marks in the vocational ANM course from the school approved by the Indian Nursing Council are awarded for 10+2 English.Health care science (10+2 with English, 40% of marks) from an accredited CBSE board or centre.The Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, shall acquire the entry qualification equivalence, or the 12th standard. State Nursing Council, the institution, will be in charge of making sure that the eligibility and qualifications match to what has been prescribed above.

Eligibility Criteria

• The candidates must have qualified their 10th with a minimum of 50% with any recognised board.
• The age of the candidate must be between 16 to 28 years at the time of admission.
• The applicant can qualify the AIE CET to get admission to PM Polytechnic.

A diploma in X-ray technology or a graduate degree in Radiology can be the beginning of your career as an X-ray technician. Earning your diploma in X-ray technology is a base for other certifications, such as advanced radiography certifications and specialized BSc and health administration degrees.
